ALBAWABA - Israeli army members were found using Lebanese eSIMs to communicate in southern Lebanon, breaking military law, according to unconfirmed reports.
Soldiers of the 699th Paratroopers Battalion stationed in southern Lebanon were found breaking strict field protocol by purchasing and using Lebanese eSIMs to communicate with each other through WhatsApp groups.
Army officers say this isn’t the first time that this has occurred and that almost all the soldiers of the battalion have used Lebanese eSIMs while in combat in which they considered a major breach of security protocol.
The officers have asked the soldiers to cooperate in a general statement and hand over their phones with the eSIMs, explaining that the use of foreign eSIMs constitutes an obscene security breach of the IDF.
The officers, notably, have not levied any sort of punishment on the battalion soldiers, taking care not to set off another mutiny in light of the one at Sde Teiman military base a couple of days before.
According to the reports, this incident along with the previous mutiny has “reinforced the widespread perception that discipline within the Israeli military has weakened amid the growing fatigue among soldiers who are also suffering from troop shortages after three years of continuous fighting in the prolonged war.”
