ALBAWABA - To promote its new drama, The Last House, Netflix has begun a flashy marketing campaign that features a real person on a large billboard overlooking Los Angeles’ Sunset Boulevard.
The man will live inside a tiny house erected inside the billboard, which hangs about 30 feet off the ground. He is supposed to be there from Wednesday to Saturday, sending handwritten messages from inside the building to people below.
The campaign follows the plot of The Last House starring Wagner Moura and Greta Lee. The film is about a family who are suddenly trapped inside their home by an unseen force and have to live as their food and other necessary supplies start to run out.
The film has been met with mixed reviews from critics since its premiere, with early reviews leaning unfavorable, despite the unusual promotion garnering a lot of attention on social media and from passersby.
Despite the backlash, Netflix’s immersive billboard has swiftly become one of the streaming giant’s most talked about marketing efforts, bringing crowds who want to check out the odd live exhibit.
