Nasrallah, Jumblat hold reconciliation meeting

nasrallah, walid JumblatDruze leader Walid Jumblat and Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah declared during overnight talks the need to continue working for a comprehensive reconciliation, Hizbullah said in a statement on Friday. According to the statement, the two leaders held a rare and an in-depth discussion of the previous stage.

 

It was the first meeting between Jumblat and Nasrallah in several years. Until the recent election in Lebanon the two exchanged harsh criticism and insults.  

 

However, on Friday they stressed the need to move Lebanon from the situation of crisis to cooperation. According to Naharnet, Jumblat and Nasrallah also stressed they would work for comprehensive reconciliation and agreed to continue consultations during the upcoming stage.

 

As Safir daily reported Friday that the agenda of the talks included evaluating the previous stage, especially events that took place before the May 2008 clashes. According to As Safir, the two leaders also discussed prospects of dialogue between Jumblat and Damascus, in addition to relations between Hizbullah and the Progressive Socialist Party.
