Every year when an artist wins the World Music Award, rumors are created around the artist and the manner in which they had won the award. This year the same thing is happening to the Lebanese music artist Nancy Ajram who received the award for 2008. elissa

Some artists revealed through a speech or through their fans their right to get the award and great disputes are caused between which artist has the most records sales in order to find out who is the winner. As for this year the dispute is between Elissa and Nancy and the argument on whose records brought in more sales this year.

There were rumors that ‘Rotana’ had suggested that Elissa would buy the award, but the committee refused and therefore Nancy won. On their behalf, the management at ‘Rotana’ announced that “Rotana did not and would not pay 500 thousand dollars or any other amount to have one of its artists win the music award. The news is not true even though ‘Rotana’ could afford to pay the money but it didn’t”.

According to the London daily Elaph, ‘Rotana’ added that “they did not send the sales records for Elissa or any of its other artists.” At ‘Rotana’ it was revealed that the sales of their artists records is always on the rise and that is what keeps the company going strong, which means that other companies could never compete with ‘Rotana.’
