King Abdullah Receives the ”Barcelona Meeting Point” 2009 Award for Undertaking King Abdullah Economic City

The jury of “The 2009 Barcelona Meeting Point (BMP) Awards", unanimously voted to offer their 2009 award to King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz for his unprecedented foresight, vision and extraordinary efforts in establishing and developing King Abdullah Economic City.

The award was received by Prince Saud Bin Naif Bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Spain, on behalf of HM King Abdullah, at the “Grand Opening Ceremony” of the 13th edition of BMP which will took place on Tuesday, 27th of October at 11am Spain local time. The Ceremony was attended by real estate professionals and experts from around the world, and was co-chaired by the Minister of Housing of Spain, Mrs. Beatriz Corredor and the Vice-Premier of Russia, Mr. Alexander Zhukov.

The Grand Opening Ceremony concurred with the Euro-Arab Real Estate Conference which BMP also hosted and organized for the first time in collaboration with The Arab Union for Real Estate Development. The event was attended by Arab experts, officials and real estate specialists from the Gulf and the Arabian countries.

Jose Pons, Managing Director - Barcelona Meeting Point, said: “We have decided to offer this year’s award to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz in recognition for his unparalleled drive, vision and entrepreneurship shown in the undertaking of such a wonderful project as King Abdullah Economic City - one of the world’s largest megaprojects. The voting was taken by a jury consisting of 18 experts and leaders from the real estate industry."

His Royal Highness Prince Saud Bin Naif said:  “Barcelona Meeting Point is the only annual international and professional real estate exhibition in Spain. It has become a mandatory meeting for the real estate industry every autumn and offers the possibility to network with the most relevant personalities in the real estate world, find the best investment opportunities, and learn about the latest industry trends.”

"I pass my humble congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince and Deputy Minister for their achievements in this generous country.” HRH Prince Saud concluded.
